Final thoughts about my Fine Art work

FINE ART DRAWING AND PAINTING

I decided to give a final thought to my work, and I felt it was important to point out that I still have one aspect of my art work that has not been looked at. The one aspect that has not been mentioned is Fine Art painting. This covers Landscape painting, Still life painting, Abstract and figurative painting. At this point in time I am reluctant to show too much of my fine art painting as I am still developing this aspect of my work. I have completed a good number of commissions, but I am sorry to say that I rarely photographed this work. I have had a tendency, even in fine art painting, to work to a brief. This can be limiting, at times, but generally people have been given what the asked for. One commission from the Langley’s in California was to a specific brief; they requested paintings of Culzean castle and various parts of Scotland. The examples that I show you here are preparatory studies for larger paintings. I enjoy working this way as I have rarely pursued exhibiting in large group shows. I have a traditionally Scottish Alla prima style of painting in broad confident brush strokes. I enjoy portraiture in various medium and I have managed to do a good number of portraits directly from models, using oil, watercolour and chalk. I have not developed sufficiently my own style, so I can only say that this is a work in progress. Here are a few examples of my fine art painting;
